Summer is upon us, Ibiza is in full swing and it’s just the right time to unleash some dancefloor carnage on fist pumping clubbers across the globe. Found myself in a world of beefy sounds this week, these are some of the best..
Konzept – No Fear! 1605. No Fear brandishes Hey Girl Hey Boy attitude with its seriously sturdy groove, leading a charge through tension-filled swathes of snares, warping fx and a pitch-bent symphony of sounds and sure to please the die-hard techno and tech house fans out there. Another cracking 1605 release.
Tracey Thorn – It’s All True (Kris Menace remix) – Ok this ones going back a bit, 2007 to be precise, but it’s been making an extreme dent in my listening schedule this week. Kris Menace waves his magical disco-wand on Tracy Thorns laid back reclamation of the 80′s. Playing up the original funky synths to full effect he adds breathy vocal cuts and stunning layers of strings & melody to produce something much more memorable than the original. Brings me back to a simpler time.
Sied van Riel & Waakop Reijers – In Awe (Captivating Sounds). I love the orchestral elements in this track and how they blend into a perfect medley of beautifully worked synth lines. An outstanding, dare I say it .. epic, trance track which is quite different for Sied van Riel but precise and beautifully executed. Particularly loving the intro mix with extended instrumentals.
Digitalism – Encore (Spiller & 2 guys in Venice remix) Combines all of the elements I love into a powerball dance track without any of that overused Swedish House synth sound we’re hearing from almost every angle right now. Edgy house, funky and danceable with a nostalgic nod to the magnificent Underworld sounds of Rez and some Balearic cool thrown in for good measure.
John Joshua & Mr Eyez – Here It Comes (State Records) – Big room prog house. Roaring with energy there is no doubt that this will rock a dancefloor. Love this because despite being a big room belter this track has soul, stamina and will still be packing a punch in clubs when some of todays over-hyped big room styled tracks are just a distant memory.
Tipped to be big in Ibiza ->>
Steve Forte Rio – Slumber (Tommy Trash remix) (Musical Freedom)
Ken Loi ft Zashanell – All It Takes (Musical Freedom)
